“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
—Galatians 6:9 ESV
A farmer knows that she can’t expect to see fruit on the same day that she sows a seed.
Not on the next day either.
Not even after a week.
Growth takes time. Results take time.
The metaphor of the farmer is particularly helpful because it leads us to ask the question: “What am I sowing?”
As this same passage states in Galatians 6:7, “Whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”
We don’t know exactly when we’ll see the results we’re looking for, but if we’re consistent in doing good we will reap a harvest.
And here’s the key: don’t give up.
Here’s a simple prayer to carry with you today:
Breathe in: God,
Breathe out: Give me strength to keep doing good.
