“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”
— John 15:4 ESV

Jesus taught us the key to living a fruitful life: abiding in him.

He didn’t say we should try harder or do more.

He didn’t give us a list of tips and tricks for success.

He simply said that if we want our life to bear fruit, we must stay connected to him in the same way that a branch remains connected to a central vine, the source of its sustenance.

In a world that celebrates fruit but doesn’t talk much about the process, may we remember that true success only comes from abiding in Jesus.

Here’s a prayer to carry with you in the busyness of your day:

Breathe in: You are my source;
Breathe out: I will abide in you.
