“O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”
—Psalm 130:7-8 ESV
This psalm was written from “the depths”: a dark place of guilt over sin. The Psalmist cries out to God, thanking him for his forgiveness and proclaiming with confidence that God will redeem them and the entire people of Israel from their mistakes.
Redemption speaks of rescue: paying a price to free someone from captivity.
It speaks of restoration.
God’s plan is not just to forgive our sins, but to lead us to a life of true freedom.
To free us from captivity to sin.
Allow God to give you hope today: hope for true freedom in him.
Here is a simple prayer to carry with you today:
Inhale: God,
Exhale: Redeem me.
