June 30: Who Am I?

“When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?”
—Psalm 8:3-4 NIV

Once again, we see the paradox of God’s greatness and nearness.

He is majestic. The heavens are the work of his fingers. He set the moon and the stars in place.

Surely he has more important things to worry about than the little details of our lives.

And yet Psalm 8 emphatically tells us that he does notice us.

And he cares for us.

Take a moment to let that sink in.

The God of creation, the one who crafted all that exists with his very fingers, is aware of you and loves you.

Meditate on that truth and let it give you confidence today.

Here is a short prayer to help you invite God into every moment of your day:

Inhale: Who am I,
Exhale: That you are mindful of me?
