“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
—Psalm 27:14 ESV
To wait for the Lord is not a passive act.
It is not to sit idle, but as the ESV Study Bible footnote for this verse explains, “to look to him with dependence and trust.”
What we are waiting for is, put another way, what we are counting on. The thing (or person) we’re hoping will turn things around.
To wait for the Lord is to count on him.
To place our confidence in him.
To be strong and let our heart take courage.
What (or whom) are you waiting for?
Here is a simple prayer to carry with you today:
Breathe in: God,
Breathe out: I’m counting on you.
