Jesus isn’t just a historical figure to learn about but a person we can know.
Holy Saturday is that moment when our faith is tested and we discover where we have placed our hope: in the changing circumstances of life or in the Word of God.
Here’s the good news: because Jesus’ work is finished we can finally rest from the task of earning God’s love.
Jesus showed by his example something he had taught before: “The greatest among you must be a servant” (Mt. 23:11 NLT).
We will always face the temptation to advance our own agenda, but Jesus showed us a different way: the way of surrender.
Just as Jesus made the unfruitful fig tree wither, he gave us the authority to remove every unfruitful thing from our lives.
If we’re not careful, we can begin to see other people as opportunities to advance our own agenda instead of precious individuals that God has placed in our life to serve.
Without a doubt, Jesus receives (and will receive) praise. The question is: will you join the heavenly chorus?
