“Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.”
–Psalm 130:1-2 NIV
We can make prayer complicated, but it is actually very simple: from wherever we are, we cry out to God.
We may be in a good place, or like the author of this psalm we may be in “the depths,” a dark and suffocating place.
Whatever the case, prayer is a pilgrimage: a journey from where we are to the place of God’s presence.
It’s not a long road, for God is close at hand.
And it’s a road we can travel every day, whatever our situation may be.
Take a moment to cry out to God today. He is listening.
Here is a simple prayer to carry with you today:
Inhale: God,
Exhale: Hear my voice.
