“May the Lord bless you from Zion, he who made heaven and earth!”
—Psalm 134:3 ESV
The end goal of our pilgrimage is to bless the Lord. To praise his name.
The amazing, wonderful, unexpected thing is this: he also blesses us.
What is that blessing?
It can take many forms, but at its most basic, powerful level, it is this: his presence.
In fact, that’s what we set out looking for in the first place.
From a place of distress we cried out to the Lord, and he answered us.
Now, Psalm 134 describes the destination of our pilgrimage, but it also describes a daily rhythm: blessing God and being blessed by him.
And in that divine mystery we call a relationship with God, we find true joy.
Here is a simple thought to carry with you today:
Inhale: God,
Exhale: Bless me with your presence.
