“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! . . . It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.”
—Psalm 133:1,3 ESV
These verses compare unity among family members to the dew that falls on the mountains of Zion.
Jerusalem (Zion) is located in an arid region. In an area with low rainfall, dew is an essential source of water for plants and vegetation.
Unity, like the dew, brings life.
Verse 2, the focus of yesterday’s thought, explains the reason for this. Unity, like the anointing oil used to set apart the High Priest and the Tabernacle, attracts the presence of God.
And where the Lord is, the barren ground becomes full of life.
Never forget the value of healthy community.
Spiritually speaking, we need it to survive.
Here is a simple prayer to carry with you today:
Inhale: For your family, God
Exhale: I pray for unity.
